News on the Carstowe foot bridge

The City will be replacing the Carstowe pedestrian foot bridge over the railway tracks, with construction commencing once school is out in June 2007. (Construction has been delayed for one year from the original June 2006 schedule.)

The project will run into September 2007.  Lighting is slated to improve over what is there now, though precautions are being taken not to create light that will bleed into nearby homes or distract train operators.

Pedestrians will be routed to Mt. Pleasant, where a concrete barrier will protect them from traffic, during the construction period.
